In Salem, people had strong beliefs and opinions on witchcraft.  Once one person was accused, the fingers started to point to one another.  People were killed because of false accusations and strong opinions.  People were afraid to stand up to the court.  During McCarthy’s time he accused over two hundred people of being communist.   A lot of those people lost there jobs and reputation because of him.  He had strong opinions like in Salem and everyone was scared of him. Then one day someone stood up and the issue was brought to peace. In Salem and the McCarthy hearings there were strong opinions, and fear to let the hoaxes continue. In both someone stood up and each situation was resolved.
